DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILD!
Child nurturing is a must pass course for all parents albeit not usually a roller coaster journey.
Children are God’s heritage and He gives to individuals to act as care giver. There will be a time to give account to the true owner. In view of this, we must put our humanly possible best and reliance on the Holy spirit to nurture these children well.
It is easy to make children do our bidding when they are toddlers and babies. Questioning starts in their adolescence. It is dangerous to wait till your child graduates into a youth before you begin to tighten your belt. The real work starts when they grow into teenagers. Some of them believe they have become adults and should be taking decisions by themselves without recourse to you.
It is right to teach them some level of independence but there should be a demarcation and control check. It does not matter how wise or gifted a child is, he can not see what an adult sees sitting down even if he climbs a ladder. Life is a teacher!
There is the tendency to want to give up when you consider the challenges faced as a parent dealing with an adolescent child. Frustration is the corner that the devil wants you. Remember that child was released to you by God and not to the devil. It is diligence to fight for what is yours and be accountable. The devil’s arms are open to have them as his inheritance!
Even in the midst of storms, keep friendship with your children. Friends fight and they make up. True friends don’t give up on each other. Be a cheer leader to your children. When they are not meeting your expectation, let them know you believe in them still that they can do better. Remember, like you, they are also under pressure from friends and the society.
Above all, stand in the place of prayer for your children. Let the war over their destiny be won on your knees communing with God, their owner.
May God give all parents grace to overcome and be celebrated.
